What is Vantage?

Vantage is a vehicle that allows me to johannshare my various passions, interests and obsessions.

I am an historian at heart and at one point seriously considered becoming an archaeologist.

For twelve years I followed my penchant for travel in a more formal corporate environment. Today my vocation is determined by my various interests.

Automobiles are one of my greatest passions, I am an absolute BMW fanatic, but that is not to say I don’t have an appreciation for other marques, on the contrary. I however am a true devotee of the classics.

My love for cars has led to my obsession of 1/18 scale die-cast model cars. I have two hundred cars in my collection which is constantly growing. Take a peek at the Models section in my gallery and I dare you not to want one.

I am a regular contributor to the BMW Car magazine; I also contribute to other interesting publications, please review the Publications section.

Creating one-off motoring memorabilia pieces, be it posters, canvases or books is a rewarding process which can only be topped by the excitement displayed by the recipients. Check out the Memorabilia section.

Still with a keen sense of wanderlust, my wife and I seek out the lesser-known places on the road less travelled. We travel as often as we can locally and internationally whenever possible. Our most memorable trip was touring through Italy for three weeks in September 2005. Our local travels have led to my discovery of the liquid gold which South Africa is world-famous for – Pot Still Brandy. I’ve shared some of my travel experiences in my gallery.
